Project MEND is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities and illness through the refurbishment, reuse and distribution of medical equipment and other assistive technology. For over 30 years, Project MEND has provided medical equipment for the community’s most vulnerable people. Founded in 1992, Project MEND helps thousands of individuals in need acquire the right tools to overcome or better manage a disability.
Drop Off

We accept your used mobility equipment. Acceptable items include: Wheelchairs, Walkers with Wheels, Shower Chairs, Power Chairs, Hospital Beds, Hoyer Lift, Rollators, Commode, Scooters, Trapezes, Tub Transfer Benches. NOTE - We also accept medical supplies dropoff that we distribute to partner organizations, including: Tubing , gloves, feeding tubes, wound care, incontinence care.
Repair

We offer repair services for your mobility equipment for a small fee.

Mobility equipment we distribute includes: Wheelchairs, Walkers with Wheels, Shower Chairs, Power Chairs, Hospital Beds, Hoyer Lift, Rollators, Commode, Scooters, Trapezes, Tub Transfer Benches. We deliver items for a minimal feed.
Volunteer
Project MEND welcomes volunteers ages 16+ to support their medical equipment reuse program. Volunteer opportunities include sanitizing and organizing donated medical equipment, equipment repair, administrative and data entry tasks, special events, marketing and fundraising support, and serving on board or committee leadership roles. Whether you have a few hours or want to make a regular commitment, your time helps ensure people with disabilities and chronic illness in San Antonio can access the assistive technology they need.
